AIT Engineer (M/F)
You will play a key role in ensuring the best performance of ThrustMe's propulsion systems by handling every aspect of the integration of our propulsion system
Founded in 2017, ThrustMe is a pioneering space technology company specializing in advanced propulsion systems for small satellites. We are global experts in satellite propulsion, pushing the boundaries of streamlined in-orbit mobility for the rapidly expanding satellite constellation industry. Our clients across the US, Europe, and Asia trust us to design and deliver high-performance, precision-engineered propulsion systems that push technological boundaries while meeting demanding timelines and budgets. We made history in 2019 and 2020 with the world’s first in-orbit demonstrations of iodine-fueled electric propulsion systems. Today, we are experiencing rapid growth, with over 300 systems ordered to date.
As a (Satellite-Level Assembly, Integration, and Test) Engineer at ThrustMe, you will be responsible for:
- Ensuring the proper integration of our systems on the client satellites
- Writing, testing and optimizing new and existing integration guidelines
You will play a key role in ensuring the best performance of ThrustMe's propulsion systems by handling every aspect of the integration of our propulsion system in their target satellite. Through exchanges with the clients and on-ground characterisation campaigns, you ensure the propulsion systems perform as expected once they reach space. This role is perfect for someone passionate about precision and hands-on engineering. By joining the Space Mission team, you will be at the interface between cutting edge research and mass production, with the ability to contribute both to improve the product itself and to the satellites it will be used on.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Write satellite-level integration recommendations
- Manage ground test facilities and test units, ensuring testing availability
- Plan, organize, and execute test campaigns for characterisation of AIT (mechanical, thermal, electrical) of the different products and their various use-cases
- Assist and advise clients in their integration effort (mechanical, thermal, electrical), including travelling to the client facilities
- Assist and advise clients in the safe handling of our product, from delivery over integration into the satellite, satellite level test, all the way up to launch
- Lead investigation and anomaly resolution of any on-ground issues encountered at the clients' facilities related to our propulsion systems.
- Contribute expertise to in-space anomaly investigations
- Collaborate with engineers and physicists in the industrialization of ground-breaking products, closing the loop of satellite integration experience and product improvement
Required skills and qualifications:
- Master’s degree in mechanical, aerospace engineering, or similar.
- 2+ years of experience in AIT for aerospace or related industries; Satellite AIT is a big plus.
- Hands-on experience with complex assemblies and/or mechatronic systems.
- Hands-on experience with electronics equipment, ideally lab and hardware debugging.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to details.
- Familiarity with CAD and technical drawings (Solidworks/Catia/Inventor/etc).
- Familiarity with specific aerospace testing standards (thermal vacuum, vibration, shock) is a plus.
- Familiarity with vacuum chamber operations is a big plus.
- Communicates in English fluently. French is a plus (A2 level or more).
